Tyson "Ten Wheeler" 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive (circa 1868)

I suggest that we introduce Wood Fired Locomotives, or more specifically this beaut! The Tyson 4-6-0 is not only well known for its wood fired boiler---but is the star of the epic finale from Back to the Future Part III.

Wood-Fired Engine

  • Runs off of Wooden Logs of any type
  • Can load up to 24 logs (half as much burn time as the coal powered engine has)
  • Carry load: 8 cars

Now you might be wondering "Why would anyone use this over the coal fired engine? It needs twice as much fuel and pulls 4 less cars >:[" and I'll tell you why: Presto Logs!

Presto Log Crafting Recipe:

  • 1 Log + 1 Blaze Powder = 4 Presto Logs

Presto Log Usage

  • Equal Fuel and Tender Storage as Logs (24 in the engine, however much the tender might hold)
  • Burns 2.5x as long as wooden logs, surpassing even the max range of a full coal powered engine
  • Burns much hotter resulting in the locomotives' top speed being increased by an entire 50%!
Drawback! - Prolonged usage in the nether will result in extreme heat and pressure buildup, eventually resulting in a destructive and deadly explosion! Better stick to Coal and Fuel for Nether travel...
