i was thinking that the Train was kinda lonely without someone sitting inside, when i automate it.
So i was thinking, how about a Train Conductor Villager that would sit inside the Train and maybe even schedule it.
Here is what i had in mind from the technical standpoint:
For starters we could use the Railroad Wrench, it would save the UUID of the last Train it was used on, after that, when we hit a Jobless Villager with the Wrench, it would transform him, into a Conductor Villager that is bound to this Train. When the Train despawn, the Conductor would transform back into a Villager.
Alternative if the UUID saving is to complex, maybe just the nearest Train in a specific radius?
The Conductor has a typical Villager Inventory and will pickup fuel related Items and refuel his Train on his own.
He will have a personal schedule that could be set (a rightclick GUI or rightclick with the Wrench), so he would get into the Train and leave it.
The Settings could be Morning/Day/Night Shift, and he would than rest at the next Station Marker with atleast 1 Notch (putting the throttle to 0) when his Shift is done and goes out.
This way we could have multiple Conductors that would rotate between Shifts.
Once the Shift ends he would behave like a typical Villager, going around, sleep in the next bed (based on his Shift), gather at a bell and goes to the next Station Marker (with atleast 1 Notch) or the last Station Marker he got out, shortly before his Shift starts so he is ready for the Shift change, if his Train is not there maybe he will use the next Train on this Station Marker while he waits on the clock and change his bound Train to the new one.
And while we already at it, maybe a Maintenance Villager, that will try to refuel any Trains in their vicinity and can work with the Fuel Refinery Block, adding a bit to it, gather the Fuel Bucket and throw any excess Fuel items to a Conductor Villager.
This way our Train Station could have a bit of life in them and will become a bit chaotic, thanks to the eccentric Villager behavior.
If this is too complex from a time/deadline standpoint, maybe a Train variant, that already has a Conductor sitting in it or an Item that would put a Conductor into a existing Train?
