Would be nice to have classes as an extra level of rpg that can be enabled and disabled that allows you to select a certain class or race that gives specific bonuses but also gives specific negatives depending on the class selected sort of like D&D where one class will specialize at strength but be slow at speed to balance out. I think it would truly add to the rpg experience that players are looking for.
Or even presets that hand pick certain skills pertaining you a "class" sort of like a build.

Oh that would be cool, But I think adding races might be off limits so maybe some sort of elemental alignment with each individual one having a buff and debuff like you said, I am unsure if a class system would work out maybe some sort of skill tree would work well one that can give smaller buffs to aspects of the game you cannot really add applicable to have their own skill like archaeology sheering and beheading mobs.
I imagine if they had a skill tree like system you would have to have level requirements and advancement requirements as well for instance if you wanted to gain a special skill like healing you would need to first cure a zombie villager to be applicable to get the skill, And to spice things up hypothetically they could add a system where if you max out a skill you can reset it for a token in the skill tree that can allow the player to bypass one restriction like the advancements and have unique skills that can only be leveled up and unlocked from the skill tree.
To be clear I mean a node based skill tree that spreads out kind of like the one from path of exile.
