Boats Add-on

There just aren't any seafaring add-ons in the marketplace. Pirate Era is the only example that I have found and I don't like the way too frequent mob spawns on every beach, and the lack of variety of the ships. It doesn't feel like a seafaring experience, it feels more like boats were added to a pirate fighting add-on.

I think a pre-14th century (no cannons) seafaring experience would be awesome. The ability to craft ships of various sizes and styles (Greek, Viking, Norman, Chinese, Japanese, etc) then sail them across the ocean.

I think you could use very similar controls as the Trains add-on. Have multiple stations on the ship that you have to switch between or get multiple people to operate.

Raise the sails to go, the more sails you raise the faster it accelerates (each sail is a station). Lowering them slows it down, anchor stops.(anchor is a station)
Turn the wheel to start moving in an arch. Have a max and min arch available based on the size of the ship (wheel is a station).
Make responses to the controls slow, like when you raise a sail it slowly starts to get faster. When you turn the wheel it takes a few seconds to start turning. It makes it feel more like you are operating a giant machine rather than driving a go cart.

The ability to carry cargo would be amazing, similar to the flatbed and animal cars in Trains. You could set up trade routes or raid each others boats.

The ability for the ship to take damage and sink would be cool, maybe when it sinks it converts from an entity to blocks as a sunken ship with your cargo at the bottom of the sea.

The ability to repair your ship would be good as well. Like you need to anchor it somewhere and make repair kits to bring it back up in health. In that same way making armor for it would also be cool.

It might be cool to have pirate pillagers, but not a very common experience. I don't want to constantly feel like I have to fight every time I get in the boat, I think more like how pillager outposts exist and are a rare challenge.

The add-on also opens up the idea of sea creatures and giant sea bosses. Maybe storms that you have to steer clear of.
