maybe parts variety could be added for each current engine like say for the steam engine you could have a variant cabin for the engine that has extra coal storage incase you wanted to have more coal storage but not a tender and it could be a trade pf situation where you still get extra coal storage but it’s a little less than what a tender would provide, and for a diesel engine you could it an automatic fuel tank that could make it so it refuels at say a new refuelling function block but you’d need to make sure the function block is filled on occasion
